Shazam, an application for identifying musical compositions, launches new platform with augmented reality features. Collection of AR features includes 3D animation, mini-games, 360-degree video, which appear after scanning special Shazam codes via mobile app.

The company started to implement augmented reality technology in 2015, when it became possible to recognize not only music, but also images. According to the company’s CEO Rich Riley AR is priority direction for company. Since the app is already familiar to the wide audience, it can become excellent advertising platform for many brands.

One of new Shazam partners is alcohol beverages manufacturer Beam Suntory. Starting in April 2017, visitors will be able to scan advertising codes at points of sale and play interactive game for memorization. Representatives of Beam Suntory report that they are interested in attracting new customers using the latest developments and expect sales growth in the course of cooperation with Shazam.
